4 Tips to Become a More Productive Business Owner
As a business owner there are many, many tasks, problems and stresses that present themselves on a daily basis. With your employees relying on you to make decisions and lead them in the right direction you may feel like you are being spread thin. Everything may seem to pile up and wear you down but we have four tips to reduce the stress and make your job feel more manageable!
1. Sleep, Diet and Exercise
To be able to function at your full potential consistently creating a strong balance of sleep, diet and exercise is essential. In our society today it is often difficult to eat a half decent meal for breakfast or lunch with how busy our lives become. Same goes for exercise, with a packed work day, a family at home and personal time it is hard to fit into the day. Discipline is the answer. You must make a commitment to yourself to make it a priority. With all that will be on your mind it may also be tough to get sleep, but number two may help with that.
2. Create a “To-Do” list
Create a “To-Do” Keep it updated and ensure that all smaller tasks that need to be completed to accomplish the bigger things on the list are a focus. Write an item on your list the second you think of it so that you don’t forget or have to worry about forgetting it. It is also a terrific way to track how much you have accomplished in the day. It is always a great feeling to look back at the end of the day and say “Wow, I really accomplished a lot!”
3. Do Something for Yourself
All too often we get caught up in caring for and doing things for others. When you are always attending others and helping them solve problems it takes a lot out of you. During the day it is important to give yourself and hour to rejuvenate and relax a bit. Whether it is over lunch, or just an hour with your door closed, be sure to do something that puts you at ease. This could be writing in a journal, taking a walk, yoga over lunch, something that you personally feel brings you back to center.
4. Create a Solid Routine
This tip is the most important! For these tips to work a steady, strong routine must be established and followed religiously. It will not be easy to maintain but studies have shown that after doing something for 21 days in a row it becomes a habit. So be persistent and disciplined and create a more productive routine for your life and your work!
These are just four basic building blocks to creating a more productive work routine, but if followed they can make a huge impact on you and your business.
