Finance ministers coming around on health care cuts: Flaherty
Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, says provincial and territorial ministers are coming around to the possibility of federal cuts to health care.
“I didn’t get the impression that anyone is being unrealistic,” he told reporters, referring to a dinner ahead of the formal talks.
“I think we all realize that public finances relate to revenues and we can’t pretend we can spend money we don’t have. If we do that, we run the risk of damaging the Canadian brand – the strong fiscal responsibility brand around the world.”

CFIA warns public about certain smoked fish
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a health alert, warning the public not to eat certain Euromax Foods brand smoked fish products.
The products may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria, says the agency.

Medical journal says ban fighting in hockey
An editorial in the Canadian Medical Association Journal says fighting in hockey should no longer exist.
"The tragic story of Sidney Crosby's layoff due to concussions has not been sufficient for society to hang its head in shame and stop violent play immediately," Dr. Rajendra Kale, a neurologist and Interim editor of the CMJ, wrote in an editorial in the journal’s Monday issue online.
